FREE INDEXABILITY CHECKER

Check noindex, canonical and page signals

Check a public page's response, noindex rules and declared canonical. Copy the findings for your coding agent. Google's index status is a separate check in Search Console.

Inspect a page's controls

Use public HTTPS. The server follows up to five page redirects, then makes one separate request for robots.txt on the final origin. It never visits canonical targets or links. The check can take about 20 seconds.

How to read noindex and canonical observations

noindex asks Google to leave the page out of Search; none combines noindex and nofollow. Generic robots declarations apply to all crawlers, while googlebot applies to Googlebot. When applicable rules conflict, the more restrictive rule takes precedence. Rules for another crawler do not establish Googlebot's setting.

An HTTP 200 page can still declare noindex. A 404, 204 or unreadable body leaves HTML inspection unknown. A PDF can expose an X-Robots-Tag header without its body being read.

A canonical pointing elsewhere declares a preferred URL. Review multiple or conflicting declarations. Omitting a canonical declaration does not automatically indicate a defect. HTML relative declarations use the document base, while HTTP declarations use the response URL.

See Google's robots meta and header rules and canonical guidance.

What this checker reads

The page request chain has a 10-second deadline, five-redirect limit, 2 MiB HTML limit and 32 KiB header limit. A separate robots.txt request has a 10-second deadline, no redirects and no retained body. At most six page requests plus one robots request are made.

HTML inspection covers up to 5,000 head elements and 5,000 meta tags across the document, 50 declarations per directive source and 20 canonical declarations. URL resolution stops at 2,048 characters; displayed directive values stop at 512. Partial coverage is labelled. No links, canonical targets, sitemaps, scripts or images are fetched, and no JavaScript is executed.

URLs and reports are not stored or included in logs. Inputs and reports are excluded from replay and autocapture, and network bodies are not recorded. See the privacy policy.

This tool does not query Google. Use Search Console URL Inspection for Google's stored page information. A page can meet technical requirements and still not be indexed. Google's technical requirements explain eligibility.
