FREE NOFOLLOW CHECKER

Nofollow and dofollow link checker

Enter a page URL to see every link it makes to other websites and its rel value: nofollow, sponsored, ugc or none of them, which SEO people often call dofollow. The checker also flags page-level nofollow set by a meta robots tag or the X-Robots-Tag header.

Check a page's links

Use a public HTTPS page. LinkBunny's server fetches only this page and never visits the links it finds.

What the labels mean

nofollow asks search engines not to associate your site with the linked page. sponsored marks paid or affiliate links, and ugc marks links in comments, forums and other user-generated content. A link can carry more than one. Google treats all three as hints rather than strict rules.

"Dofollow" isn't an HTML value. The "No link qualifier" count means a link has none of nofollow, sponsored or ugc. It says nothing about whether the link helps rankings or passes value. Tokens such as noopener and noreferrer concern browser behavior; they are not Google's link qualifiers.

Page-level nofollow

A page can make all its links nofollow at once with <meta name="robots" content="nofollow">, the none rule (noindex plus nofollow) or the same rules in an X-Robots-Tag HTTP header. <meta name="googlebot"> and a header starting with googlebot: apply only to Google. Header rules for other crawlers are listed with their crawler name; meta tags for other crawlers aren't read.

A page-level rule applies separately from the anchor's markup. It does not add rel="nofollow" to anchors with no link qualifier.

What the checker reads

LinkBunny's server makes one request for the page, follows up to five redirects and reads the HTML it gets back, up to 2 MB within 10 seconds. It doesn't run JavaScript, so links a script adds after loading won't appear. It never requests the linked pages.

Links to the page's own registrable domain count as internal, including subdomains: blog.example.com and example.com are the same site. On shared hosts such as github.io, each site is its own domain. Relative links are resolved against the final URL and any <base href>. The list shows up to 500 external links. Inspection stops at 5,000 anchors and does not resolve URL values over 2,048 characters. Counts cover inspected anchors; partial inspection is labelled.

The page's site sees an ordinary request from LinkBunny. LinkBunny doesn't store the URL or the results. Its logs keep counts and timings, not URLs. See the privacy policy.

Checking one expected link?

This tool lists every external link on a page. To confirm that a page links to one specific URL, with redirects and the destination's response checked, use the backlink placement checker. The placement guide explains how to read its results.

Questions

How do I check if a link is nofollow?

Enter the page's URL above and find the link in the list. Its label shows nofollow, sponsored, ugc or dofollow. Check the page-level nofollow box too, since a meta robots tag or header can make every link nofollow.

Do nofollow links help SEO?

Not for rankings in any way you can count on. Google treats nofollow as a hint and says it generally keeps such links out of ranking, though a relevant nofollow link can still bring readers. The guide Do nofollow links help SEO? covers what Google documents and when a nofollow link is worth getting.

I added rel="nofollow". Why does the checker show no link qualifier?

The page the server returns doesn't include it. Common causes are a CMS editor or plugin stripping or rewriting rel, a cached copy of the page, or a script that adds the attribute in the browser after load. View the page source to compare.

Why is a link to my subdomain missing?

Links to the same registrable domain, including its subdomains, count as internal and aren't listed. The internal count in the results includes them.
